LeSS Philippines Meetup #25: Lean Thinking

Lean Thinking is a collection of ideas, tools, and practices that sprung out of what was originally called the Toyota Production System (TPS).

When we think of Lean, we often think about the more popular part, the tools and practices of single-piece flow, workflow visibility (kanban), waste reduction, etc.

In this session, we will investigate the the core ideas behind Lean, the so-called 2 Pillars:

  1. Respect for people
  2. Continuous improvement (or kaizen)

The 2 pillars allowed Toyota to break out of hierarchical management practices and empower people to figure their own solutions.

"The essence of [TPS] is that each individual employee is given the opportunity to find problems in his own way of working, to solve them, and to make improvements" -- Yoshihito Wakamatsu and Tetsuo Kondo, Toyota experts.

In Meetup 25, we will explore the 2 pillars further and link them back to Agile and LeSS.
