VIRTUAL HUMANE LOBBY WEEK Oct. 5th

Details

INTRODUCING Humane Lobby Week 2020!

Our objectives remain the same: lobby legislators to support animal protection bills and increase the numbers of our advocacy groups. The nature of our virtual event presents some changes and challenges, but there are plans in place to ease concerns and make things run smoothly. Actually, the online aspect of the event may facilitate more participation by eliminating obstacles such as distance and timing. Basically, it should be easier for new people to attend!

IF YOU WEREN'T ABLE TO JOIN THE PREP WEBINAR on 9/24, here is a link to the recording.

If a required, the passcode is: W32i.n1+

It delivers information about PA top priority bills, explains the scheduling of appointments with legislators. Constituents will be scheduling their own appointments to “meet” (via telephone, face time, Zoom, etc.) with legislators during the week from Oct 5 – 9. Rep. Melissa Shusterman joined to help show how advocacy meetings really work. And Rep. Frank Farry joined to talk about the power of advocacy.

Here are some ways you can help broaden the impact of this event:

--Contact your legislators to set up a 15-minute meeting with them to participate with us in this special virtual week (contacting them sooner than later to ensure they have availability).
****Please contact me (Roe Laserow) if you'd like help finding your legislators on https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/

--Encourage friends and family to participate. Note: if an advocate expresses they would like a seasoned advocate to join their meeting, they can email Kristen at pennsylvania@humanesociety.org and she will make a connection with the appropriate district leader.

--If you can, wear a pop of purple in support of our solidarity against animal cruelty, snap a photo of you (and your pet) while talking with your legislators and post it on social media with the hashtag #PaHLW.

We need to be visible, proactive, meet other like-minded individuals, and join with them to become a voice for the voiceless.

Be well and stay safe!
