Move to 816 cape Henry drive-Sauvignon Blanc - Old World vs New World
Details
We will sample and analyze two different versions of Sauvignon Blanc.
OLD WORLD: Quincy ("cahn-see") is a Sauvignon Blanc of the Loire, very similar to the nearby and famous Sancerre and Pouilly ("poo-ee") Fume' ("foo-may").
NEW WORLD: New Zealand dominates the premium Sauvignon Blanc market in the US at rather expensive prices. Chile is emerging as one of the great wine regions of the world, but prices there have not caught up with quality. Sauvignon Blanc from Chile is similar to Sauvignon from New Zealand, but more reasonably priced.
Come to see which style you prefer of Sauvignon Blanc: New World or Old World!
Everyone will receive educational materials about the wonderful wine that we are trying.
You must pre-register for this free tasting on Meetup com: Let's Discover Wine. There is no charge for Let's Discover Wine, but we are meeting during the Hilliard Wine Club's weekly Friday party. They will charge you $5/person admission.
This free tasting is two samples of wine, plus a snack to pair. If you intend to spend the rest of the evening drinking at the club, you might want to bring a bottle for yourself. (You also have an option of paying Hilliard Wine Club an additional $5 to taste 4 grocery store wines. But the 4 tastes of 1.5 ounces together are only equivalent to 1 glass of wine, so you might still want to bring a bottle.) The Hilliard Wine Club also suggests that you bring a snack to share, but they always have too much food, and much of it ends up going to waste.
Please note that this Sauvignon Blanc tasting will end by 7:00. It is best if you are able to arrive shortly after 6 PM so we have time to discuss the wines.
Hilliard Wine Club meets Fridays 6-9 in the building behind Coffee Connections, 4004 Main Street, Hilliard OH 43026. This "Let’s Discover Wine" Sauvignon Blanc tasting is just from 6-7.
