### 🌟 Let’s Get Social! Scarborough

Where friendly people come together, connect, and enjoy the best of Scarborough!
Let’s Get Social! Scarborough is all about creating a space where like-minded individuals can meet, share interests, and make lasting friendships. Our events are held in popular venues across Scarborough and nearby areas, making it easy for everyone to join in, meet new people, and feel part of a warm, inclusive community.
Everyone is welcome. Everyone is valued. Let’s make new friends and share good times!
Our Scarborough-based hosting team knows that joining a new group can be intimidating, which is why we ensure our events are organized with clear meeting points, friendly hosts, and a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

### ⭐ A Quick Note on Profile Photos

We care about safety and community, so we ask that all members upload a clear profile photo.
👉 Your face, please.
No pets, flowers, or sunsets — we want to recognize you when we meet!
If you join without a photo, you’ll have two weeks to upload one.
If you have personal reasons preventing you from doing so, please get in touch with Caroline directly.
❤️ A Friendly Reminder: This Is NOT a Dating Group
We're here for friendship, not romance.

  • Please don’t direct message other members unless you already know them personally from events.
  • Let connections happen naturally, in person, at the events.

### 🎉 What to Expect at Our Events

  • Events hosted in easy-to-reach, popular venues
  • Clear details on meeting points, times, and hosts
  • Friendly, welcoming hosts and members
  • Occasionally, we may share events hosted by others (for awareness), even if not directly by us
  • Photos taken at events (let the host know if you prefer not to be in them)

Our aim is to foster a relaxed, positive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.

### 🚫 What We Don’t Tolerate

We’re all here to have a good time, so please:

  • Be kind and respectful to others.
  • No negative comments about other members or unpleasant behaviours at events.
  • If personal conflicts arise, we won’t be mediating disputes, but we ask that you handle them privately and without affecting others’ experiences.
  • If a conflict can’t be resolved, we suggest stepping away from the group or avoiding events where the other party may be present.
  • If ongoing issues are raised, we may intervene, but remember, we’re not the “Meetup Police.” If you feel uncomfortable, let the host know privately.

For any concerns, contact Meetup support. They’ll take an impartial view on matters and suggest a course of action, often advising a short break from the group.

### ⚠️ The Serious Stuff (Disclaimer)

  • Attend at your own discretion: We’re not responsible for your travel to and from the event, purchases you make, or personal disagreements.
  • If you have concerns, reach out to the event host privately. We aim to keep things fair and transparent.
  • 📌 Event Rules — Please Read

We’ve got a few important rules that help keep everything running smoothly. These are firm but fair.
1️⃣ Update Your RSVP: If you can’t attend an event, please change your RSVP in advance.
Late cancellations impact attendance numbers, cause embarrassment, and prevent others on the waiting list from attending.
Members who frequently no-show may be removed from future events for up to two months.
2️⃣ Turn on Your Notifications:
(If they’re off, you’ll miss important updates and reminders. Just go onto your Meetup profile (Home) Settings (Gear Stick) an ensure notifications are On.
If you also go to your phone setting - Apps - Meetup - Allow Notifications this will ensure you do not miss anything
3️⃣ If You Can’t Make It, Book off, If you cant book off - Comment:
If you can’t attend and you cant book off, let us know in the event comments. We’ll remove your spot.
4️⃣ Do Not Attend Without a Spot:
If you don’t have a confirmed place, don’t show up. If the event is full, message the host to see if there’s a seat available elsewhere, but don’t make your own arrangements with the venue without letting the host know in case it causes issues
5️⃣ Clear Profile Picture Is Mandatory:
If you don’t have one, you may risk being removed from events and possibly the group.
6️⃣ Be Courteous and Patient:
With large groups, service can be slower, so please be patient with both staff and hosts.
7️⃣ Leave Event Management to Hosts:
Only hosts can manage the event. Do not click the “Manage Event” button, as it could cancel the event by accident.
8️⃣ Follow the Host’s Lead:
For event-related queries, contact the host privately. They’ll be in charge of any changes.
