Climate catastrophe, hunger, misery, displacement and loneliness characterise Mendelssohn's famous oratorio "Elijah", whose theme could not be closer to today's events three millennia later. And although climate researchers and activists play the main role in the present time, it was the prophet Elijah who asserted himself against disbelief and hatred, but who also had to bear the direct and painful consequences of his actions.

Felix Mendelssohn's monumental work relentlessly brings the contrasts of Elijah's actions and his inner and outer conflicts to music, and with its colorful and vivid tonal language creates images and contrasts that are still today capable of captivating listeners around the world.
