Brooklyn Waterfront Urban Hike: The “Poland to Sweden” Tour

Ready for a day of fun in-person adventure? Please join us for this scenic Urban Hike, led by BklynTreks and CityGirlTours, as we explore along the beautiful, historic Brooklyn waterfront.

Up ahead, stunning views of the Manhattan skyline from the best viewing spots in Brooklyn! You’ll learn about the history of NYC’s largest borough stretching back to the time of the early Dutch settlers to the exciting present time during which so much is changing so fast in the borough.

This will be an invigorating walk that will take you from Brooklyn's Poland to the Borough's Sweden (neighborhoods) and give you the opportunity to meet other fantastic folks who love history, outdoor exercise and NYC!

The hike is 10 scenic miles and will take approximately 5 hours. We will take plenty of rest and refuel breaks along the way!

Our guide is knowledgeable about the history of Brooklyn, it’s architecture, hidden spots and where to find the best views for your photos!

We will wind our way through some of the most interesting neighborhoods in NYC and much of the time we will be hugging the East River coastline so this will be a true waterfront hike.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We’ll start at the Pulaski Bridge at the Northernmost part of Brooklyn: Greenpoint.

From there:

Greenpoint Historic District, East River, Transmitter Park for fantastic views of the city. Then, quaint shops, restaurants, cafés. Next, the best of Williamsburg then Bushwick Inlet Park to Domino Park, the Domino Sugar refinery, Brooklyn Navy Yard. History, views, coffee and sweets along the way! :-)

Naval Cemetery Landscape for a few minutes of quiet and reflection. Brooklyn Roasting Company for a quick coffee. Then cobblestone streets, historic homes, DUMBO and Brooklyn Fulton Ferry Landing, more fantastic city views, history - past and present - and more stops for rest, restrooms and foods/sweets all along the way.

Grand finale will be the Red Hook neighborhood: the shipping trade history, lovely views of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, 19th century warehouses that are converted to shops, galleries, and cafes then the IKEA ferry pier where our tour will end. (Transportation info to where you would like to go from the walk's end point will be provided us.)
