The Talapus Trail in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness takes you on a steady incline up to two lakes, Talapus and Olallie Lakes. The elevation gain is slow and steady and the hike feels very doable. Kids and dogs on leash will also have a fun time on this trail. There are a few bridge crossings and the trail cant get a bit muddy in places, but it is very well maintained and easy to follow.
We will meet at the trailhead as 8am and will wait for 15 minutes to make sure everyone makes it.
The road out to the trail does have potholes. Just want you to be aware but very doable in any type of car.
How is parking? There is a main lot for parking.
Is a Pass required for parking? Yes, the northwest forest pass or the America the beautiful pass is needed for this parking lot.
Is carpooling provided? Carpooling is highly encouraged!! Reach out in comments if you can provide a ride or need a ride. I can take a few people in my truck if you do not have a pass. my meet up spot is the safeway in north bend. Please just message me if you would like to share a ride from North bend. All others can reach out to other members in this posting.
How long will this hike take? I anticipate it will take 4-5 hours.
