Do you want to capture the streets and memories of Amsterdam in your own sketchbook?
Join local artist, illustrator, and travel sketcher Ellie for a guided sketching walk through the picturesque Amsterdam East. We’ll stroll approx 2 km, sketching and experimenting with different techniques along the way.
What's included
- A 2 hour guided session by Ellie, who will give drawing exercises as we go to help you learn and develop different techniques to document life, the streets and buildings of Amsterdam
- A5 sketchbook (for you to use and take home)
- Art materials: Graphite pencil, handful of Eccoline brush pens, handful of colour pencils and water-brush (for use in the session and to be given back at the end)
Do I need any drawing experience?
- No, all levels are welcome.
- The exercises will be the same for everyone, but Ellie will guide and tailor feedback based on your level
What to bring
- A willingness to experiment in your sketchbook!
- Comfy shoes, warm clothes, a drink, and a coat if it's cold
Price
- €25 - Introductory Meetup offer which will last on events until end of May (usually €50pp)
- Includes materials (to use in the session), guided instruction, and your own sketchbook to take home.

Meeting location
- We will meet outside De Plantage cafe (do not go inside!)
- We will finish about 2km away from this location (near Kalkmarkt)
Cancellations due to weather
- The weather in the Netherlands can be very unpredictable. This is an outside session so if it's raining I will cancel the session and you will get your money back. If it's a bit cold we will wrap up, wear enough warm clothes and go!

- Parents & children welcome. Please let Ellie know before if you're bringing kids and how old they are
Accessibility & Physical Requirements
- The walk is approximately 2 km and will include some steps along the route.
- The session involves standing and sketching, as well as walking between locations.
- Not wheelchair accessible due to stairs and walking distance (please get in touch with Ellie if you are in a wheelchair and would like to do a session like this - we can create a wheelchair friendly route at a separate time)
- Pace**:** We will move at a gentle, relaxed pace and stop for sketching along the way.
