About the Talk
On Halloween, Nina will explore the shadowy side of UX design—dark patterns—and how companies can instead use ethical nudging to enhance user experience. Dark patterns can manipulate, mislead, and frustrate users, so how can we as designers guide users with transparent, respectful nudges instead of spooky, manipulative tricks? This talk delves into common dark patterns, the psychology behind them, and practical ways to ethically "nudge" users toward positive outcomes without becoming a UX horror story. Prepare for some eerie examples and valuable insights into the ethical landscape of UX!

About Nina
With over a decade of experience as a UX lead in Australia and Sweden, Nina brings a unique blend of design, development, and user research expertise. Driven by a passion for mapping human behavior, Nina translates complex user insights into actionable strategies for companies, specialising in user research, UX strategy, and workshop facilitation. Known for her commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, Nina also writes on UX and development for Envato and has led CreativeMornings Gothenburg as well as volunteered to inspire women in tech through roles with Code Like a Girl (AUS) and DataTjej (SWE). Starting November 1st, Nina is actively seeking new roles, projects, and clients in UX design, UX lead, accessibility, and product ownership—especially within femtech and other impactful fields.
