Bike trip Märsta - Sigtuna 10 km (train to Märsta)

We take our bicycles on a train to Märsta, ride 10 km to Sigtuna, an ancient Viking hub on lake Mälaren with medeival churches and a marina, have a lunch/fika there (17th century Tant Brun cafe is an option), hike along the shore (total hiking about 5 km), return by bike to Märsta, and take the train back to Uppsala.

The bike route starts on a quiet street in Märsta and continues on an asphalted bike lane, separated from car traffic. The route is good for any bicycle and skill level.

The train ticket costs 39kr (or 29kr discounted), and can be bought at https://biljett.malartag.se/ or in the Mälardalstrafik app. You can also buy it from SJ (the national railway) but there will be a surcharge. Buy the ticket before you leave home. We are taking the 10:44 Stockholm train to Märsta station, which is the second train stop from Uppsala.
The train has two dedicated bicycle compartments in different cars.
