Hello!! I'm a current organizer of a fairly active meetup group looking to focus on some wine events in the nearby local area and throughout the state of Virginia. I live in Williamsburg and I'll do mostly events locally at first (within an hour or so of Williamsburg) then will try to do a day road trip or 2 before the end of the year. We'll start the overnights and/or airbnb stays sometime in 2026, probably late winter/early Spring. I already have the experience of hosting wine weekends away but the wineries visited have been mostly between Charlottesville and Wintergreen. I'm at a point where I have a number of favorites in that area and have visited a few of them several times and I'm looking to change things up. I want to explore the wineries in the rest of the state so I'm creating a new group to do just that with some new friends, although, I love the friends that I have!! I'm hoping to have at least 2 events per month, more if possible. Beside wineries, we'll try and do some wine festivals and other wine related events and may visit a brewery on occasion. If you see something that might be of interest to the group, please let me know. I might not necessarily host it myself but would be happy to post an event on your behalf.

I'm not going to implement the meetup dues on the site but will be charging a mandatory fee of $10 (charged once every 12 months) if you carpool with me or stay in a house with me somewhere. This is my way to recover some of the cost of the organizer subscription which is currently $180 every 6 months. There will be exemptions to the $10 fee which include anyone who hosts events on either of my meetups, anyone who has made a donation in the past 12 months towards my meetup groups and anyone who has made contributions in other ways that are not listed here.
For carpooling with me and house stays, active members of this group and event organizers of this group will get first spots. Please arrange your own transportation or accommodations if you would like to bring a guest who doesn’t belong to the group as I don't want to take spots away from meetup members. Most house stays will be ladies only but anyone will be free to make their own accommodations and meet up with us. I'll do co-ed in a house if we can get more than one guy to go but I've found it's typically one token guy in attendance and I'd like to avoid that in the future. Also, there is no such thing as "I'll Pay You Later" when I book a house, payment secures your spot when I open an event for payment, even if it's 6 months in advance. There are no refunds for a house stay unless we find somebody to take your spot. There are usually people on the waitlist wanting to go but cancelling a week or 2 before the house stay can be problematic. With the understanding that sometimes unforeseen things happen, please only commit to a house stay if you're pretty certain you can go.
