Doing Good vs. Being Good: Idealism and Utilitarianism in Real Life

Details
Last meetup we touched on values and this time we will take it a little further with two more western philosophies. Is it better to act from pure principles—or to make decisions that help the most people, even if they break a few moral rules? From everyday choices to global issues, we’re constantly caught between ideals and outcomes. Join us for a lively discussion where we’ll unpack famous philosophical tensions, apply them to modern dilemmas, and reflect on what “doing good” really means in today’s world. Let's CHAtt about it!
We will be outside so bring your bug spray, cozy hoodie if needed (it does get windy there) and maybe a chair if it's more comfortable. I will grab a picnic table just past the pavilion. In the chance of rain, we can always go under cover. Feel free to BYO whatever! There are vending machines for cold drinks at the Fry Center. And there is a restroom right there as well.
