Let's Drive to Salalah(Oman)

Gypsies!

This is the time to be in Salalah which has a unique climate (popularly known as the ‘Kharif‘ season) during which it enjoys cool, wet and misty monsoon.

The barren hills around Salalah have turned green into spectacular landscape.

Activities:
Long road trip (2500+ km), mountain drive, Beaches, sightseeing, walking treks, camping, barbecue etc.

Trip Plan:
We will start from our meeting point in Dubai at 11:00 pm on Thursday nighting, and enter Oman via the border at Al Ain (check link below for visa at the border post!!).

We will drive to Salalah total distance around 1250 Km via Ibri.

Day - 1
We expect to reach Salalah around 5 pm on Friday. We will check into our hotel after long and tiring drive.

Day-2
We will have breakfast and checkout from the hotel at around 9 am. We will head to Wadi Darbaat, it has a lake, waterfall, scenic landscapes and plenty more to explore.
We will have lunch visit the Sink Hole and Anti Gravity Point.
By 6 pm we will find a suitable place and setup our camp.

Day-3
We will head to Mughsayl Beach. We will spend time at the beautiful beach and see the Marneef Cave and the Blow Holes
By 6 pm we will find a suitable place and setup our camp

Day-4
We will head towards Dhalkut, Wadi Sayk and Khor Kharfot. After spending our day there we will head back to Salalah Town and check in our hotel.

Day-5
We will have breakfast and checkout from the hotel. We will head back to Dubai via Al Ain Border.

Trip Contribution:
AED 100/- per person, Advanced Members go free.

Hotel Bookings:
Approx. AED 500/- Person on twin sharing basis for 2 nights. We will try to get the best rates for group booking. Bookings will be confirmed on receipt of payment in full from the members.

4x4 cars(Good Condition).

Oman Visa & car insurance (you need to buy your own):

• GCC citizens and residents (professional category) get visa at the border - please check your eligibility at the Royal Oman Police website to avoid last-minute disappointment:

• Oman insurance for your car (you could buy it at the border, but buy it beforehand and save time).

Important:
1- Only 4x4 cars with low gear are allowed for the mountain drive.
2- No "open passengers list" for this drive. Only drivers can bring their own guests /passengers. Please coordinate directly with the drivers if you need a ride.
3- At least 2 drivers per car is a must considering the long and tiring drive.
4- Trip meetup points will be shared with the selected members on our trip Whatsapp group.
5- All cars should have basic rescue gear/ first-aid kit (no tire deflation needed).

What to Bring:
1- Enough food/snacks and water/drinks for the duration of the drive. (Note: there are only a couple of small cafes serving sandwiches on the mountain, so bring your own dry food/breakfast with you)
2- If you wish to join the BBQ, we will have a large grill to share (bring your own too if you have).
3- Camping gear, sleeping bag/ blanket, inflatable mattress and pillow (the camping surface is rocky), chair, torch, clothing in layers, wood for bonfire (two bundles per car are a MUST) - nights may get cold.
