Kaintuck Hollow - Acorn Section Hike
Details
Lets hike the Kaintuck trail, Acorn section about 10-12 miles. This will be an all day commitment. It's a good 2.5 hour drive at least to get there.
Trail Information: A network of trails (15 miles total) consisting of a ridge trail and 5 loops that run into the valleys and along streams and springs. Mostly excellent running surfaces, but it gets technical with rocks and bedrock on some hills. Cool natural bridge with a spring flowing through. Mountain bikers and horses also use the trail
Note: Due to the distance and the Pace we will have to do to complete it this will be a challenging hike. We are aiming for 10-12 miles.

What to bring:
Hiking shoes or boots
Hiking poles
Plenty of water
Snacks for the trail, a sack lunch
Headlamp or light source in case we are late getting back
Directions:
Kaintuck is located near Rolla, Missouri, just south of the little town of Newburg. From Rolla, take I-44 west to the Highway T exit and take T to the left, or south, through Newburg. After crossing the railroad tracks and the Little Piney Creek in Newburg turn right onto Highway P. Travel 2.7 miles down Highway P to County Road 7550 (gravel), which is on your right. Drive another 2.7 miles down 7550 which will take you straight to Mill Creek Picnic area. The trailhead is actually across the low water bridge there and up the gravel road a bit to your right.
It takes at about 2 hours to get there from St. Louis according to google maps. Carpooling is highly recommended. It's also recommended you bring a Missouri map along for backup. GPS systems are great but aren't alway 100% reliable. Just my opinion.
Primitive camping, without potable water source, is available at the trail head. Alternative camp ground locations are nearby.
