Backpacking 1 night at Hawn State Park
Details
Let's do a short overnight backpacking trip at Hawn before the bugs and ticks reappear. This will be limited to 6 people max with 4 cars (all allowed per reservation) I reserved Group spot 1 by Pickle creek (water source) but please be advised to bring plenty of your own water just in case the spring is dry. Also having the equipment such as a 20 degree sleeping bag or lower is required unless it's warmer weather.
We will start out later in the morning the north and south loop trails and end the with our day packs then drive to the the Spanish Land Grant Trail and hike a few miles to our camping spot by Prickle Springs. Sunday we can take our time and head out by around 9am or 10 am or earlier depending group size. The more people the slower it usually goes.
Will consider first timers if experienced hikers but prefer experienced backpackers.
******Please don't sign up for this this unless you are really commited to going". Cost per $2 person to pay for the camping reservation. I take venmo or paypal or can do cash.
Will post more details later.
Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome. I will have mine pictured above.
Please note we will be camping on the Spanish Land Grant Trail. Part of Hawn State Park. We can Start out on the Whispering pines trails then Drive to the Spanish land Grant Trail which is about 4 miles long only about a few miles to the actual group camp site once you jump on that trail. After talking with the ranger only 2 tents are allowed on the camp sites along the Whispering Pines Trail. I thought 6 tents were allowed. In any case I booked the the group site on the Spanish Land Grant Trail so as not to have to reschedule this.
