Castlewood Grotpeter ~ 4.5 miles
Details
Let's hike Castlewood State Park's Grotpeter Trail. It's been a long time since I've hiked this trail, so we'll be paying close attention to the trail markers.
MEET at 4:15, hike at 4:20, at the Grotpeter trailhead in the 1st parking lot on the RIGHT just past the PARK OFFICE.
Sunset is at 6:25 pm, so we need to exit the park by 6:55 pm.
ROUTE: We'll hike the Grotpeter Trail. TRAIL MAP
PACE/DISTANCE: My pace is about 2.5 to 3 mph. Total distance is around 4.5 miles. We will stop as often as needed to keep the group together. It should take us about 2 hours to complete.
TERRAIN: Earthen trail rated Moderate. We will climb some steep hills.
BRING: Bring water and hiking poles, if you prefer. Wear hiking shoes or sturdy tennis shoes and dress for the weather. Bug repellent in season.
