You grab your phone to check the time. Hours later, you’re deep in a rabbit hole of cute cat videos 🐈🎹 — but what time is it again?
Ever wondered how that happens? How can we reclaim our attention without giving up our phones completely? Well, that’s exactly what we’ll figure out at Fly Up, Phones Down.

🎁 WHAT IS THIS?
FUPD is a phone-free, in-person gathering where we:

• Meet awesome people who also want to live life in the real world (yes, they still exist!) 🦋
• Share simple but genius life hacks to take back our time from the power of Captain Screen Time 📖
• Learn from one another’s ideas, stories, and experiences 💛
• Play games, have deep talks, and forget what time it is 🧨

✨ HOW CAN I JOIN?
Just RSVP here on Meetup, because spots are limited (and we don’t want you to miss the fun!). Whether you’re new to the Curious Bird Project or already on your way to a more digitally conscious life, you are welcome! 🚀

🚩 WHERE IS IT?
Wereldcafé Leuven is a cosy, international café in the city centre of Leuven. Known for its tasty fair-trade drinks & snacks it also has a very colourful and social vibe. When you come inside, make sure to go behind the curtain. That’s where we will be sitting.

⌚ WHEN IS IT?
On Tuesday, the 6th of May, you’re welcome starting from 19h30. The event itself starts at 20h.

• Can I bring a friend?

Yes, feel free to bring a friend or two! 😊

• Is it free?

Yes! Because Wereldcafé is willing to rent part of its café for free, this event can be free of charge. Just make sure to support the café by buying a drink 🫖

• Can I be late?

We would love it if you can come in time by being there before 20h because arriving late might disrupt the flow of the event. But don’t worry, if you’re late you’re still welcome! 👐

✨ A LITTLE BACKSTORY
The spark for Fly Up, Phones Down lit in Leuven in December 2021. On a dark winter evening, a small book club gathered in a cozy apartment to share how the book Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport had changed their lives. The idea of “helping each other spend less time digitally distracted” took flight that night, and now, The Curious Bird Project continues to build on that initial spark, bringing people together to challenge their digital habits.

Next to Fly Up, Phones Down we also host The Airplane Mode Challenge — a 28-day challenge designed to help you reset your relationship with digital distractions for the long term.
