Welcome to a night of learning about the creation process of GPT models and getting some real-time insight into how to create your own. After Justin's started us off with some AI coolness, Paul will finish the night talking about how to handle large quantities of data in Power BI/Fabric. Justin's bio: Born in Pikeville, KY in 1974 Justin grew up in the hills of eastern Kentucky. Shortly after graduating from UPike with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Communications, Hall discovered an interest in technology, specifically web related technologies and programming. In 2000, while recovering from back surgery and unemployed, he taught himself how to code and started a company, 2819 Studios. (formerly named, JD Media). In 2017, Hall was one of Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People in Business for helping start Bit Source, a company located in eastern Kentucky that employs former coal miners as coders. Now, Justin provides consulting, freelance, and coaching to companies interested in AI, mobile, and open-source technologies.

Paul's title: Using Power BI with Lots of Data (before and after Fabric)

Paul's abstract: Can we use Power BI to deal with real-time data sources, very large tables, and transactional details? Yes, but it requires some planning and proper design. Out of the box, Power BI is super-fast with moderate data volumes and data schemas optimized for analytic reporting. How big is your data? Millions or billions of rows? Gigabytes or terabytes? - we can handle that.
Moving beyond the basics, learn to use DirectQuery alongside in-memory Import mode in composite models to access very large tables with real-time results; models and reports that combine interactive "dashboard-style" reports and drill-through to transactional details. Take a journey and learn to use the Power BI platform to achieve the best of both worlds: performance and scale.
In addition, what does Fabric offer and how does Direct Lake change the equation? - or does it?

He consults, writes, speaks, teaches & blogs about business intelligence and reporting solutions. He works with companies around the world to model data, visualize and deliver critical information to make informed business decisions, using the Microsoft data platform and business analytics tools. He is a Director of the Oregon Data Community PASS chapter & user group, the author and lead author of Professional SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services and 14 other titles from Wrox & Microsoft Press.  Paul is a 2021 & 2022 FastTrack Recognized Solution Architect and holds several certifications related to the Microsoft Data Platform and Business Intelligence.
