McConnel Springs

Details

Lets walk through history at McConnel Springs. This isn’t just a nature trail—this is the birthplace of Lexington. The site marks where William McConnell and other early settlers camped in 1775, giving the city its name. You will literally walk through the roots of local history.
McConnel Springs is tucked behind warehouses and industry, the park is a surprising oasis. The artesian springs (like the famous Blue Hole) give it a mystical, unexpected beauty—like stumbling across a secret garden.
We'll walk under a canopy of trees. We may likely see birds, turtles, butterflies, and lush greenery—all without leaving city limits. It’s quiet, calm, and a perfect Sunday reset button.
