Details
Jacobson Park Loop is the kind of trail that invites you to slow down, breathe deep, and let Lexington’s natural charm do the rest. This 2.1-mile paved loop winds gently around the park’s serene reservoir, offering a peaceful escape without leaving the city.
🌿 Why it’s worth your steps:
- Scenic lake views: The trail hugs the edge of the Lexington Reservoir, where reflections of sky and trees ripple across the water.
- Wildlife sightings: Keep an eye out for blue herons, ducks, and the occasional deer grazing near the treeline.
- Accessible and easy: With smooth asphalt and gentle grades, it’s perfect for all skill levels—whether you’re walking, jogging, or pushing a stroller.
- Dog-friendly: Leashed pups are welcome, and the loop even passes by the dog park for a mid-hike tail-wagging break.
- Sunset magic: Come in the evening and you might catch the sky turning gold and pink over the lake—a favorite moment for locals. The loop closest to Shelter 2, where we are going to meet has its' own walking path away from the road on the first half of the hike. Once we cross the bridge, on the second half of the hike, in some places we'll be walking in the grass beside the road. Most of the second half of the hike is away from the road. Wearing Bright clothing is recommended for the second half of the hike. taking a headlamp can also help. This is a 2.1 mile 45 minute hike. You are welcome to stop your hike at anytime.
🚗 Parking is free and plentiful, and restrooms are available nearby.
