What we’re about

I'll put it on the line and risk saying that as a neurodivergent introvert, the trend toward individualism and social distortion over the last decade or so has left me isolated, especially since moving back to Lexington recently. Ironically, I was caught mid-travel by the pandemic, and spent much of it doing what most were prohibited from - travelling. It was a combination of memorable interactions (the topic of COVID precaution is truly interesting in this context, for now I'll just disclose that even with a chronic heart/lung condition I never tested positive, and I tested frequently. Luck, but also much precaution) with people from all over the world, a few lasting friendships, and periods of quiet where the social shift away from community in the US was palpable.

Still, I wasn't prepared for the social stasis and isolation of remaining in place. Establishing social connections is just more difficult for introverts, even those of us with extrovert traits, so I thought, why not reach out and see if others are experiencing this difficulty and needing a friendly place to land when it comes to social connection. I enjoy a huge variety of activities, so I'm not narrowing this down that way. Instead, I'm hoping meets and activities can be decided democratically, but I'm more than happy to be responsible for managing the logistics to make it happen.

So what do you think? I can't claim credit for this prediction of how it would go if introverts united in protest, but if you apply it to ordinary socialing, I think it sums up the expectation: "We're here! We're introverts! And now we're overstimulated, so we're going home."
