The Hunt for Good Will

Details
Imagine someone holding the door for you on a rainy day. Maybe they smile, maybe they rush off without a word. Was that brief experience an example of 'good will'? Was it just politeness drilled into them since childhood? Is there a difference?
“Good will” is one of those phrases we toss around as if it were obvious, but try to pin it down and it starts to wriggle. Is it the same as kindness? Is it a spark of selflessness, or is it always tangled up with our own interests? Can we ever act out of pure good will—or is there always something in it for us? This month at LexSophia, we’re going to poke at the shape of this mysterious thing. We’ll explore what good will is, what it isn’t, and how it shows up (or fails to) in our daily lives.
Join us as we dig into the question of whether good will is a foundation of morality, a social lubricant, or just a fancy name for habits we approve of. We'll be stomping around the Bingham Davis house once again. Expect good company, plentiful, free parking, a lively discussion, and if there's really anything to this good will stuff, plentiful snacks!
See ya there!
