Please join us! LEX SOPHIA will be hosting an event on October 18th, creating a conversation surrounding capital punishment. This discussion will stem from the One-Sheet titled, "Only Afraid of the Process: Justifications and Criticisms of Capital Punishment" by Cory Owens. During this event, we will ponder questions such as:

  1. Should a punishment in some way fit the crime? If so, how?
  2. Do the consequences of punishments, such as reducing crimes, matter and, if so, in what way?
  3. Should punishments for crimes be retributive, preventative, neither, or both, and why?
  4. How confident should we be in the guilt of a person convicted of a crime?

Please come share your thoughts and perspectives. Any and all are welcome!
