Welcome to LexPal!
Are you currently learning French or have taken courses in the past? Would you like to practice French in conversation with others? If you’d prefer an informal, friendly setting instead of (or in addition to) a class, join us for casual conversations.
Our group is open to everyone, from complete beginners to advanced learners. Advanced speakers are encouraged to assist others, creating a friendly, no-pressure environment where we can all learn from each other.
Some meetups will be limited to a certain number of attendees to ensure everyone has a chance to participate actively.
Online & In-person
We’re excited to announce that we’re now a hybrid group! We started as an in-person meetup but moved to Zoom during the pandemic. Now, we’re bringing back in-person meetups while continuing online sessions for those who joined from different areas or prefer remote participation.
Free & Paid
We love offering free events to keep things accessible for everyone. However, to provide the best experience, some events will require a fee. This helps our organizers be creative, research activities, prepare, and offer fun experiences for you all. We have native French speakers and bilingual members, so you can look forward to a variety of events and immersive conversations!
Manhattan & Brooklyn
Our in-person meetups will mainly take place in both Manhattan and Brooklyn (Bushwick, Park Slope, South Slope, Sunset Park, Greenwood).
A few guidelines:
- Please update your RSVP if you can’t make it, so others on the waitlist can join.
- For special events requiring a fee, please pay in advance—no refunds for no-shows.
- Adjust your settings to receive notifications about changes, cancellations, and new events.
- Use the discussion board for questions, continued discussions, and sharing language learning resources. This helps keep the practice momentum going between meetups.
- When we meet in person at bars or cafés, please remember to order something and tip the staff.

Our group has been around since before the pandemic, and while we’ve adapted, we understand that interests and life priorities can change, which might affect your level of engagement.
