Leyton Blues Jam #1 — Play, Improvise, Get Better

🎸 A new blues monthly jam in East London — come and help us build it.

A friendly, informal evening for musicians who want to play more blues, improvise with other people and get better at playing together.

We’ll meet in a rehearsal space near Leyton Midland Road Overground, with a focus on classic blues, Chicago blues, Texas blues, blues-rock and jazz-blues.

For this first session, we’ll have a short setlist ready so everyone knows what we’re going to play. Expect plenty of playing, rotating musicians and space to experiment — but no 20-minute solos!

We’re particularly looking for:

🎸 Bass
🥁 Drums
🎤 Vocals
🎵 Harmonica

All abilities welcome, provided you’re comfortable with basic blues forms and can follow a 12-bar progression.

This is a brand-new group, so don’t worry if you don’t know anyone yet — that’s the whole point. The aim is to build a regular pool of musicians who can come along when they can and always have someone to play with.

If we don’t have a full rhythm section for the first few sessions, we’ll use backing tracks where necessary while we build the group.

No auditions, No pressure, and definitely No egos! Just play and have fun.

This is not a commercial thing. The event fee covers the room hire fee and the Meetup booking fee. Anything extra will be used to cover occasional treats such as a guest teacher or professional session player.
