Hyperledger Meetup at MaRS

Hyperledger Meetup at MaRS

Details

Join our meetup to discuss all things Hyperledger! Hyperledger is an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. It is a global collaboration, hosted by The Linux Foundation, including leaders in finance, banking, Internet of Things, supply chains, manufacturing and Technology. To learn more, visit: https://www.hyperledger.org.

If you can't imagine a blockchain world outside of Bitcoin or Ethereum, then this is not the event for you. What we will NOT cover at the meetup: ICO's, anything bitcoin or crypto-currency related, high-level / fluffy marketing stuff from people who don't know what they're talking about.

What makes our meetups unique? We talk about real world Hyperledger blockchain use cases, feature knowledgeable technical speakers, and encourage the community to share ideas and learn together. Hope you can join us!

Speaker Bios:

Andy Yang, Associate Director, Jonah Group

At Jonah, Andy leads project teams and tackles complex customer problems, primarily in the FinTech sector. Andy has used many programming languages, tools and frameworks because he is kind of old. He still finds the Spring framework makes developing production-quality software genuinely easier. Other things that make Developer Andy happy? Python, BeyondCompare and jq. And spreadsheets. Software development is more than just tools: Andy is a fan of the Lessig method for presentations and design sessions where the team is violently agreeing in front of a whiteboard.

Benny Cheung, Senior Technical Architect, Jonah Group

Benny is a 10-year veteran at Jonah, earning respect and accolades from customers and coworkers alike. His passion for bleeding edge technologies makes him the perfect lead in Jonah Lab, brewing up new designs and propagating knowledge across the company. Ever since Benny read a book on 3D computer graphics, the fascination of computer programming and visualization were always on his mind. Subsequently, the computer graphics domain has been significantly strengthened by gaming and dedicated GPU architectures. This has led to Benny’s continued fascination with GPU programming, game architecture and Virtual Reality development. Computer Graphics and Python are his favourite technology that represents the dynamic data analytics, visualization and rapid prototype ability that Benny loves.

Ravi Govindran, Senior Consultant, Trice Research

As a senior consultant at Trice Research, Inc., Govi consults on security architecture for financial institutions and advises IT and Software start-ups on growth and innovation funding for R&D and academia research collaboration. Previously, as a technology manager and architect for a wireless carrier, Govi had deployed large scale carrier-grade systems, led projects with distributed cross-functional teams, and had carried out extensive technology, product, and vendor due diligence. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA in Finance from the Schulich School of Business.
