Here's everything you need to know about our event:

A March By Lesbians

Date: Saturday 29th June 2024.
Time: 11am.
Meeting Point: Meet in Victoria Tower Gardens South, at the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst to begin our march.
March Route: Our march will lead us to Parliament Square, our central point, where a number of attendees will deliver speeches (approx three minutes each, 15-20 minutes each). Following this, we will head back to Victoria Tower Gardens South for a picnic (or the pub if the whether doesn't permit this).

Important: Men are not permitted to attend the event. However, boys under the age of ten are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We will have one male photographer present, who will remain on the sidelines and not participate in the march, to ensure we capture the success of the day in photo and video format. You can choose to opt out of individual photographs if that is your preference. These captures will serve as a keepsake of what we hope will be a very special day.

Why We're Marching
Over the years, many of us have felt that mainstream Pride events no longer represent the needs of lesbians. It's time for us to come together, celebrate, and reclaim our spaces. This march isn't just about addressing how lesbians have been overlooked; it's also a celebration.

Participation Guidelines
To maintain the focus of our event and create a supportive environment, you may bring a straight female friend for support if needed. However, this march is about lesbian and bisexual women, so we aim to avoid an imbalance. Please bring straight friends only for support purposes, as we would prefer to avoid a hen party vibe ;).

Additionally, understanding the commitments of those with children, boys under the age of ten are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Your Support
Organising events at Parliament Square requires strict regulations, including £5 million in public liability insurance and paid consent for using amplified audio equipment. These essential measures, ensuring safe and compliant events, have already cost the organiser over £500 personally.

Unlike commercialized Pride events, we want to return to our roots—a fun, welcoming day focused on our community values of inclusivity, support, visibility, and safety. To maintain the non-commercial nature of our event, we have relied on organiser funds and some attendee donations to cover costs, ensuring a safe, visible, and successful event.

Funds will cover SIA licensed security, high-vis steward jackets, banners, placards, megaphones, a portable PA system, first aid kits, flyers, and other essential touches.

You can help ensure a safe and fun event by throwing in a few pounds, no matter how big or small, here.

Extra Funds
Any extra funds raised will go to Beira's Place and another charity of our choice. Learn more about Beira's Place, a support system for women who have been victims of sexual violence, here.

L Community
On the day of the event, we will have two donation buckets and card readers at the picnic. One will be for our charities, with digital donation summaries available for transparency. The other will be for L Community, our initiative to build spaces for lesbian and bisexual women (our app and social networking sites are live, with only final venue costs remaining).
This will be your opportunity to learn more about our mission, chat with us, and, if you feel able, contribute a few pounds to help us reach our goal. It’s a chance for those most invested in this cause to get involved.
