'Wright of Derby: From the Shadows' is the first major exhibition dedicated to the British artist’s ‘candlelight’ paintings. We celebrate and look again at his most admired works.

19:00 - Stubbs: Portrait of a Horse 👆

This exhibition will focus on the creation of ‘Scrub’, one of the first equine portraits in the UK, which will be joined by other paintings and drawings by the artist.

19:30 - ming wong: Dance of the sun on the water 👆

Location: Rooms 10, 58, 59 and 60
Wong’s film and installation draws on paintings of Saint Sebastian and the queer landmark film ‘Sebastiane’ (1976) by British filmmaker Derek Jarman, setting the story inside the National Gallery itself.
