### 🎨 About Pilsen & Your Guide
Just minutes from downtown, Pilsen bursts with color, creativity, and community.
Home to award-winning restaurants, iconic music venues, and vibrant murals, Pilsen was even named one of Forbes’ “12 Coolest Neighborhoods Around the World.”
Once a haven for Czech immigrants (named after the Czech city Plzeň), the neighborhood transformed in the 1960s as Mexican American families made it their home. Today, it remains one of Chicago’s most culturally rich and expressive communities.
Your guide, Luis Tubens, co-founder of Pilsen Public Art Tours, has led thousands of tours across the area’s most iconic murals. He’s a lifelong Pilsen resident, former educator at the National Museum of Mexican Art, and once served as outreach coordinator for Commissioner Jesús “Chuy” García. Luis also studied under the legendary muralist José Guerrero — bringing unmatched insight and authenticity to every tour.
