🏙 St. Pölten - Unlocked: City walk, art exhibitions, and music

Join us for a day full of discovery, and culture in Lower Austria’s vibrant city! Once an industrial hub, St. Pölten has transformed into the capital of Lower Austria. The day includes a city walk, exhibitions, a guided tour — and for those who want to stay longer, a brass concert in a dome!

The day trip is suitable in English and German, however, the guided tour may only be in German.

Tour Plan

10:07 – Departure from Vienna Westbahnhof
We'll hop on the Westbahn and head to St. Pölten together. Travel time: just under 30 minutes.

10:35 – 12:00 | City Walk: Old Town, Government District & Klangturm
We’ll kick off with a walk across the old town, heading to the Landhaussteg into the government district. Expect modern architecture, the iconic “Schiff” building, and a visit up the Klangturm for a panoramic view of the city.

12:00 – 13:30 | Museum DOK NÖ: "Untitled"
Dive into contemporary art with this group exhibition curated by Judith P. Fischer. A vibrant mix of artistic voices and themes awaits.

13:30 – 14:30 | Lunch Break at Café Emmi
Time to relax, chat, and enjoy a cozy lunch.

15:00 – 16:00 | Special Tour at the Former Synagogue
Led by curator Martha Keil, this powerful session explores Jewish history, remembrance, and modern digital installations. The space speaks volumes — from its stunning restoration to its ongoing message of resilience. On this day, the synagogue has free entrance as part of the "Tag des Denkmals."

16:30 – 18:30 | Dinner at Café Schubert
A relaxed dinner in a stylish atmosphere before the optional evening program begins.

18:55 Train back to Wien-Westbahnhof

Optional Add-On: Brass Concert

18:00 – 20:00 | "Urlicht" Brass Concert, Domkirche St. Pölten

An emotional journey through sacred music from Gregorian chant to Mahler’s transcendent “Urlicht,” performed by the acclaimed Austrian Brass Consort. An experience in the St. Pölten Dome!

After that: Final drink at Cinema Paradiso

22:25 Train back to Wien-Westbahnhof

Once RSVP:ing you have two options:

Basic: You can arrange and pay for your own tickets (public transport, museum, concert). Just keep in mind that concert tickets might sell out, and are not guaranteed then. 5 Euro.

Premium: No need to organize on your own. Public Transport Day Ticket Wien to St. Pölten, and entry to museum NÖ is included. - 50 Euro.

Concert add-on: If you wish to participate in the concert, an additional fee of 29 Euro is applied for the ticket.

Whichever option you go for, everyone covers their own food and drinks.
