THE LARGEST…AND LONGEST-RUNNING…TIKI FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD
AUGUST 7-11, 2019
Tiki Oasis is an annual 5-day event in San Diego, California for lovers of Island lifestyle and purveyors of Polynesian Pop. TO at the Crowne Plaza offers events through out the day and night, such as live music, dance, djs, vendors, fashion show, poolside entertainment, car show, kids activities, art exhibit, plus top experts giving educational presentations on everything from cocktails, art, architecture, & food, to Tiki carving!
2019 THEME: CATCH THE NEW WAVE!
“Catch the New Wave!” is an obvious nod toward Surf music, while “New Wave” is a blast from the early 1980s. In the 1980s, simultaneous to New Wave, was the “Second Wave” in the swell of Surf Music history, the charge was mainly led by Los Angeles bands like Agent Orange, Jon & the Nightriders, The Insect Surfers, or the gimmicky Surf Punks. At Tiki Oasis 2019 we present acts that relate to 1980s New Wave with a surf or exotica twist, “Second Wave” Surf music, and a few original “New Wave”-ers to create a totally radical weekend that will leave you stoked.
As always at Tiki Oasis, the event is all about the Tiki lifestyle. And, every year, the event explores a theme which adds dimension or explores a different aspect of Popular Culture tangential to Tiki. The theme is best expressed in the costume contest, a few of the seminars, the late night burlesque show, and some of the music from the bands and DJs. So don your best Aloha wear and make the Tiki scene.
