What we’re about
This Meetup group seeks to provide a space for LGBTQ+ community members who also have an interest in climate justice & allied environmental causes to be able find each other, and a way for those of us who are looking to connect & build relationships with others who are on a similar wavelength.
Establishing a dialogue between both social movements can be an inspiration source for many forms of creative expression. The specific focus on LGBTQ/ Climate intersectionality will provide for some interesting discussions as well as exploring humor as a therapeutic tool.
But of course, plugging in ways to take action and to support each other along the way is key at this timely moment.
Please feel welcome to suggest ideas for group activities and to share additional community events and action alerts. The vision is to be able to both make a positive difference in the broader community and build relationships with new LGBTQ friends without having to choose between one of the other priorities given limited time and energy.
This Meetup Page was formed shortly before we knew how bad COVID would become, with the intention of helping a climate group get approval to table at Twin Cities Pridefest (which finally happened in 2022).
As this can a brave space to be vulnerable, we ask to treat people who show up following the basic rules of kindness and respect and to also follow consent and confidentiality. Do not share anything outside of group which someone indicates as confidential. We reserve the right to remove members for unwanted or abusive behavior.
