Challenges of Finding Meaning and Purpose As A Humanist

Details
Christians find meaning and purpose by following the teaching of Jesus as presented in the Bible. Humanists do it by creating it for ourselves, drawing on reason, empathy, and the human experience rather than a divine source. Christianity provides a ready-made belief system. Humanists make it up as we go. We have freedom to choose meaning and purpose and the individual responsibility to create it.
Do humanists have it easier or face a more difficult time? Our discussion will focus on the obstacles we face in the pursuit of meaning and purpose. Does it get more difficult as we age? Is a thorough grasp of our personality helpful?
Come share your experiences and learn about approaches that could benefit your own search.
Armando Rancano will present on the topic and facilitate the discussion. He's lived in Palm Springs for 25 years. He hails from Chicago, where he helped found Horizons Community Services and facilitated relationship support groups.
For those who are interested, we will go for lunch at a nearby restaurant after the discussion.
