What we’re about
Welcome to LOW Riders - Liberty on wheels.
Liberty noun
1. The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life.
2. The power or scope to act as one pleases.
This group is for lovers of all things skating & wheel based & for all levels! Beginners welcome! We cover everything from Wheels to Ice!
A typical outing will be held in a large park with plenty of space, a skatepark, roller or ice rinks, great music (mandatory!) & good vibes (also mandatory). Spectator sport such as roller derby & ice hockey meet-ups will be arranged depending on the level of interest & number of attendees.
Members are encouraged to bring along their own pair of skates/blades/boards/bike as well as protective gear (very important) as these will not be provided. Some events may offer rental options e.g. skateboards, protective gear, outdoor wheels & ice skate but it is dependent on the organiser & gear availability. Please read the description of each event for those details.
Please note that our organisers who run social & fundraising sessions are volunteers & they have no obligation to teach you at these sessions. If you wish to attend lessons to learn how to skate these will be clearly labelled as such. Please contact Yvonne if you have any further questions.
A small fee is charged at events. Please see details below:
- Pay as you go between £0 - £5.5 (depending on the event & organiser)
Unlimited social session memberships - 6 month | £35
- 12 months | £50
Not in a position to pay? Please scroll down for further details
Pay-as-you-go rates are non-refundable (nor transferable). If you have changed your rsvp or informed the organisers that you are not attending & they then cancel an event, you will not receive a refund. All payments are to be made in advance. Subscriptions are to be used within 6 - 12 months from the date of purchase (covered in your t's&c's).
Purchasing tickets from venues is the responsibility of individual members who rsvp. Members who purchase venue tickets for these events & then can no longer attend may try to sell their ticket to another member on the waitlist. This is the responsibility of the member and not the organisers. Your LOW Riders fee cannot be sold alongside your ticket to another member
Please contact Yvonne about purchasing subscriptions so she can give you all the t&c's, take your payment & add your details into our system.
Please do not turn up to events without being on the attending RSVP list & have your spot paid for. Using your membership to acquire information on events & showing up unannounced shows a lack of respect for the community we have fostered. If you do this, you will be removed.
Why does LOW Riders charge fees & where does my money go?
The fees help pay for the cost of running the group. This mainly covers website costs (meetup charge us), expenses such as first aid kits, chalk, stuff for members like stickers, snacks & prizes. As well as fundraisers for charity & skate organisations. We also donate towards community needs such as local go fund me pages for skatepark renovations etc.
In short, you are paying into the community to keep it thriving.
Not in a position to pay? We don't want anyone to be left out. Sometimes the currency we pay in is time rather than money. By giving up your time to put on a session, you are giving the community another opportunity to skate! We ask that volunteer organisers put on 1 event a month & in exchange, you get free/discounted access to all other social sessions for 4 weeks! Please message Yvonne.
Any feedback, in general, is also welcome. Please do tell us the types of activities you are interested in & locations.
Signing off and rolling out!

Some Rules
Photo, Name, Age Requirements & Pronouns: Please use your first name in full, use a clear photograph of yourself & state your pronouns on your profile. Photos make it easier for organisers to spot & identify you when meeting at events. Members must be over the age of 16 to join otherwise they must have a parent or guardian sign up on their behalf (& attend sessions with them). These members must also have their parent or guardians' photo as their profile photo. (P&G's do not need to skate at sessions, just attend). Answering the question about your pronouns is important, this allows members to correct use/refer to individuals pronouns, it is one of the most basic ways to show your respect for another's gender identity. You will only be accepted into the group if you have followed these four requirements. If you update/alter your profile after being accepted and it goes against these guidelines, you will be removed without warning.
This group is private. Do not share information such as event locations or members details outside of the group with non-members. We love peoples enthusiasm for having more people attend sessions, but please for the safety of all members do not go sharing key information about specific event details or information about members. If you are seen to be doing this you will be removed without warning. If you wish to share any information, please share what we post on Instagram as stuff is published to cater to these privacy settings.
Private messaging: Organisers will use private messages to contact members attending events & members are encouraged to message organisers when they have questions or concerns. Members messaging other members is discouraged unless you have already met & consented to communications via the platform, any members who get unsolicited messages from other members are encouraged to alert organisers. Members' safety is a priority. Any members sending unsolicited or harassing messages will be removed without warning.
RSVPs: Please make sure your RSVP is up to date on events. Your spot for events is only confirmed once payment is received, please read the event details and check your messages when signing up as a deadline will be given alongside payment details. If you are no longer able to attend an event please update your status. This is important as it allows organisers to know who is attending & opens up a spot for someone else.
RSVP No Shows, last-minute cancellations & late attendance: The "no shows" flagging system will be used for members who do not show up for events they have signed up for, for members who cancel in under 2 hours from the event start time & for members who are more than 15 minutes late for an event without giving any notice to the organiser. (Members will be flagged as a no-show for any event where a venue ticket has to be purchased regardless of when they let us know their rsvp update). Organisers have no obligation to correspond with members who are running late for them to find the group, it is the responsibility of members attending to arrive for the start time. Members will not be contacted with any warnings, members will simply be removed after no-show flags #3.
RSVP No Payment Chase-ups: All members are expected to read event descriptions, from that you will see you need to check messages and pay promptly to secure your place. Members who have been to several events know this as they have gone through the procedure. Therefore, if an organiser has a repeated person who they (or other orgs) seemingly have to chase for payments, they will be flagged with a 'no show' for taking space away from other members & wasting the organisers' time (remember we are volunteers). Members will simply be removed after no-show flags #3.
No Shows Redemption - We want to give members a fighting chance to stay in the group. If you have received no-show flags but have attended multiple events in a row without receiving another flag, 1 flag will be removed from your tally. This is at the discretion & review of the organisers' team.
Maintaining Membership: We want to make sure members are active, we would rather have a small active group then a large group. In order for you to keep your membership, you must have logged into the group in the last year (meetup states on your account when you last where active). If you have not, you will be removed without warning. Please note you may be welcome to re-join once you feel ready to participate.
Overseas & charity event Members - We understand that some members live overseas & only join our events when they find themselves in London. Likewise some skaters only want to join our charity events, both of these things may mean that you can only join us once a year or less often then that. You must contact the organsiers team to let them know this, they can make a note of your account so you wont be removed.
Please do not turn up to events without being on the attending RSVP list & have your spot paid for. Using your membership to acquire information about events & showing up unannounced shows a lack of respect for the community we have fostered. If you do this, you will be removed.
*Skating & cycling are considered an extreme sports. All members participate in events at their own risk.
