"Once On This Island" is a vibrant, moving, and mythic musical that blends Caribbean folklore, joyous music, and emotional storytelling into a powerful, show.
The musical is a lush, Caribbean-inspired folk tale about a young woman who falls in love across a rigid class divide and is tested by the Island's gods in a sweeping, fable-like story. Her story is told through song, dance and quick-paced dialogue. The vibrant musical score gives it an energetic, percussive, and sunny sound, even when the story turns bittersweet.
