A quiet, friendly room, a live model and two hours to simply draw. Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time in years or you draw every day, you're welcome here.
Sunday sessions
- When: every Sunday, 7–9pm

How the evening runs
- A different model each week, alternating female and male
- Warm-up poses of 5, 8, 13 and 21 minutes, a break, then one long 50-minute pose
- Basic materials provided – all levels welcome

2-Day Figure Painting Masterclass with Anastasia Pollard (RP) - £210

If you are ready to step up from portraiture and zoom out to focus on the whole body, this masterclass is designed for you. This is for dedicated painters who want to add colour to their life drawing and use the entire human figure as a vehicle for expression, grounding their practice in traditional, academic methods.
Two days. One sustained pose. Deep, uninterrupted observation.
This is a rare opportunity for local artists to work directly from an unclothed life model under the guidance of a highly regarded professional, without the need to travel to London. We are thrilled to host Anastasia Pollard, an elected member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (RP). Classically trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Florence Academy of Art, Anastasia’s work is firmly rooted in honest observation and strong structural drawing. She has exhibited extensively across the UK, including multiple selections for the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery.
Rather than rushing to capture a fleeting likeness, you will learn her specific process for systematically dismantling and rebuilding the whole figure using oil paint. You will start with an accurate structural under-drawing to establish the pose before progressing to the careful development of values, colour relationships, edges, and form.
This masterclass won't turn you into Velázquez by Sunday evening. It will, however, give you a logical, repeatable system for dissecting form and transitioning your life drawing skills directly into classical oil painting. Demonstrations throughout the course will illustrate each step, with plenty of individual guidance to develop both your technical skills and your confidence.
You can continue wrestling with muddy palettes in disjointed sessions, or commit to a disciplined weekend that bridges the gap between fragmented sketches and fully realised classical paintings.
We provide the easels, boards, and the life model.
You simply bring your own paints and brushes.The Details:
