Life drawing can be broken down into a logical sequence of decisions.
Most people only ever see the finished piece hanging on a wall, but the real learning happens in the messy, structured process of building it.

This demo is based on a figure drawing from an Old Master, but the process is exactly the same as drawing from life.
Join me in The Barn at Westbury Arts Centre on Sunday, 22 March for a live artist demonstration.
I will be working at the easel, pulling back the curtain on how a drawing is actually constructed from the very first line. I will be explaining my thought process in real-time, focusing on how to capture the underlying structure, the gesture, and the "hidden geometry" of the subject before getting lost in the details.
This is an informal, open session. It’s an opportunity to see the techniques up close, ask questions about the craft, and understand the logic behind the marks on the paper.
