Welcome to Life Drawing Portland at Hipbone Art Studio!

We are a new Meetup group that gets together (in-person) every Wednesday to connect with each other, and practice drawing the human form from a live, nude, sometimes costumed model.
This is a supportive and inclusive environment, and whether you’ve never drawn before, are a seasoned artist or just looking to try something different - you are welcome here!
Doors open at 6pm with some time allowed to get settled in and meet everyone. At this time we can also give a few drawing pointers and suggestions if needed so you can get the most out of the session.
Timed poses with the model on stage begin at 6:30 starting with short, 90 second gesture drawings and working our way up to 15 minute poses. Our first break is at 7:15 when you can walk around, look at everyone’s work, talk, and have a snack. The evening continues with longer 30 minute poses with breaks in between until 9pm.
(You dont have to stay till 9pm, it is a school night after all!)
We provide all needed art supplies, but you can bring your own as well.
We are also happy to provide instruction and feedback on drawing if requested.
This event has an $18 fee to cover model and venue expenses and is payable the same day in person. We also encourage everyone to tip our model!
Great music will be played on our turntable!
PARKING IS FREE in our large lot!

Greetings to all artists!
We’ve been taking a break on the Wednesday evening sessions to let everyone enjoy their summer, but wanted to let you know we are doing a drawing event on WEDNESDAY JULY 16th from 6 to 9pm at Hipbone Art Studio, Portlands premier figure drawing venue!

This will be a nude session with IZZY modeling multiple poses of different lengths.
Whether you've never drawn from a live model, are an experienced artist or somewhere in between, you are welcome here!
Rates:
This is a paid event ($18 Cash, Card or Venmo)
Payable same day, in person, at the studio. Fee covers model, venue and event fees. We also encourage everyone to tip our model ( it may look easy but it’s very hard work!)

To secure a spot simply RSVP and you are good to go! You can pay the day of the event.

About Us

How it Works:
Doors open at 6pm with the first 30 minutes dedicated to settling in, intro's, mingling and getting ready to draw!
At 6:30 we draw from a live, nude model (sometimes costumed) starting with short poses, working our way up to 15 minute poses. We take our first break at 7:30 where you can go around and see everyone’s work, talk, and mingle. The evening continues with longer 25 to 30 min poses (Of course you are not required to stay till 9, it is a school night after all!)
Materials:
We can provide all art materials as well as drawing instruction and pointers if requested. You are encouraged and welcome to bring your own favorite supplies too.
A Little More Info…
Our Meetups will have a different model every Wednesday in a variety of nude and sometimes costumed poses, we will occasionally have a themed session, with different costumes, maybe a classic movie theme, or inspired by a famous artist. Also we always have some classic old and new vinyl spinning on our turntable to make the evening more interesting. We also have plenty of water and tea available for everyone and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages.
