We'll meet in the parking lot at the Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn NH no later than 9:30 and explore the trails through the woods and along the lakeshore. Massabesic Lake is the water supply for Manchester, and much of the shoreline is undeveloped due to being managed by the Manchester Water Works, so the lake has retained its natural beauty.
This will be an easy hike, about 3 - 4 miles, with negligible elevation gain. We'll see some picturesque sights on our way out to Battery Point and back, then we'll follow up the hike with lunch at the Goldenrod in Manchester for anyone who's interested.
Please, NO GUESTS. If you want to bring someone, they need to sign up for the hike through Meetup. Also, NO DOGS - Audubon does not allow dogs in the fields.
The Audubon Center opens at 11AM so there will be restrooms available when we return to the parking lot, but not when we start the hike.
Pack for spring conditions, including:

  • Layers
  • Rain jacket/poncho
  • 2 liters of water or Gatorade
  • Pack trail snacks such as granola or energy bars

“Life’s a Hike" T-shirts (see photo) are available for a donation of $25 or more. Proceeds will go to NH4Ukraine, a humanitarian organization that provides help to Ukrainian citizens who have been affected by the ongoing war.
For anyone interested, we can have lunch at the Goldenrod Drive-in restaurant following the hike.
