Highway 50 & Utah National Parks Ride, 5-days/4-nights

Details

This 5-day Ride will include Nevada Highway 50 and Utah National Parks. Highway 50 is known as “The Loneliest Road in America” which runs across the entire state of Nevada and the highway traverses diverse terrain including remote, scenic landscapes, desert valleys, and mountain ranges. We will be obtaining stamps in our passbooks along this highway and you will earn a certificate from the Governor of Nevada after you have successfully completed this ride. Yet there’s more!... We will continue our ride to Utah to visit Utah’s National Parks including Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce, and Zion. I truly think that Utah is one of the most beautiful states in America, and I guarantee that this will be one of the most beautiful rides you will ever do!

Please read this entire ride description and "Skill Level" requirements before signing up for this event.

Here's a quick overview of the trip…

We will minimize Interstates and take Scenic Byways as much as possible. Longest stretch for a day would be 460 miles, approximately 8 hours seat time, travel time longer with breaks.

Gas stops every 140 miles, so if your bike cannot make this you must bring a Jerry gas can with you.

You will need a National Park Pass, so please bring it with you. Also, bring rain gear (just in case).

Day 1: Ride up highway 395 to Carson City, Nevada (460 miles)

Day 2: Ride “The Loneliest Road in America” and obtain our stamps in our passbooks. Spend the night in Ely, Nevada (321 miles)

Day 3: Ride across Utah with some of the most beautiful open desert valleys characterized by red rock formations, expansive canyons, and sand dunes. We will take highway 128 along the Colorado River and canyon walls into Moab. We will visit Arches National Park. Spend the night in Moab, Utah (423 miles)

Day 4: Ride through Capitol Reef National Park and continue to Highway 12’s Grand Staircase-Escalante. Stop for a short walk on a trail in Bryce to see some hoodoos that Bryce is known for and a waterfall. Ride through Zion National Park. Spend the night in St. George, Utah (435 miles)

Day 5: Ride Home. (374 miles)

Total trip is 2,013 miles. If you're ready to have some fun, please join us. The first step is to RSVP and make your hotel reservations. But please only RSVP if you are intending to go, so we can have an accurate headcount.

SKILL LEVEL:
Intermediate Riders ONLY due to the twisty mountain roads, faster speeds, and long distances.

You must have ridden with LCRG before; this cannot be your first ride with this group. [If I do not know you, please introduce yourself to me, Carol (BatGirl), on a ride before this trip.]

Sweep will assist in emergencies and breakdowns but will not wait for stragglers. We will not have a chase van or trailer, so you need to have your bike in tip-top condition with AAA tow service paid up.

For your safety and that of the group, we require that you show up with a DOT-approved helmet, full tank of gas, and tires in good condition to make the entire trip of over 2,000 miles.
