Wye Valley Walk

Details
This horseshoe walk starts and finishes in Chepstow at the mouth of the river Wye. We start on the Offas Dyke national trail leading out of Chepstow and follow it before crossing the Wye and coming back on the Wye Valley Walk trail into Chepstow. As well as passing Tintern Abbey we pass Chepstow castle, the Devils Pulpit viewing point and viewing points in Wyndcliff Woods.
It’s a lovely 18km woodland walk for some of the route with 670m of total ascent and the highest point at 225m. The terrain is a gentle steady climb to start before we drop down to the river crossing and then back up to walk back along the other side.
Some hillwalking experience would be advantageous but definitely experience of walking a long distance because it is approximately 18km. We will be spending 6-8 hours walking.
