Hi,

You might have a greater number of attendees if you could integrate the open source meeting with open coffee who mieet on the first Thu from 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. in the absolute hotel in limerick.

I find attending evening meetings an issue due to family committments.

Several of the Open coffee attendees are startups using open source.

Regards

Liam

Hi all.

According to the meetup website there are 37 members in the Limerick Open Source Meetup group. That's wonderful!

On the other hand, we cancelled this months meeting because only two people, myself and Massimo, were going to attend.

I started this group back in October 07. It didn't really take off till mid '08. Since then we've averaged about 5 people at each meeting. There's a big gap between 5 and 37.

If you've not attended, or not attended recently, please do make the effort. Or perhaps discuss the reasons you've not attended, so we can help out (either reply to the mailing list or to me personally at [address removed])

The meetings are very relaxed and informal. We sit in the cosy Litz lounge at the Marriott in the centre of Limerick and chat about anything that takes our interest. That's it. Sometimes a laptop or two gets opened up to look-up or demonstrate something. The topics vary widely: high-tech, low-tech, no-tech.

You want to talk about something of interest to you? Just start talking about it. Or listen in to others and pick up nuggets of information. Get to know people with similar interests. Enjoy a drink. Sounds good to me! :)

Perhaps some of you who have attended could reply with a quick description of what the meetings were like for you. That might help encourage others.

Please also, all of you, take a moment to update your profile on meetup.com with a description of your interests and, ideally, a photo so we can all put names to faces more easily.

Let's make it a success!

Tim.
