Donal Byrne will give both an overview of Language Understanding models and take a deep dive into the BERT model. Language Understanding models is currently one of the most exciting areas of NLP research today. The BERT model introduced a more efficient way to quickly train NLP models and provides the foundation for many of today's state of the art models.

Donal is a machine learning engineer on the Core ML team for Xperi in Limerick. Donal has a wide range of interests within the realm of AI/ML and is an regular contributor to medium.com where you can find a number of his articles on reinforcement learning and machine learning.
