What we’re about
We offer FREE preparedness training for both people who have survival skills and anyone wanting to learn.
My intention is to have a local group who will teach and help one another with their preps and survival needs and who can support one another during disasters or SHTF situations. I have found other groups but they are all an hour or more away. This might work for training but it doesn't work well for support when things go wrong.
I have mechanical, electrical, woodworking and welding skills that I can teach others and use to help others who do not have those skills.
Things I would like to learn are: Ammo reloading - Curing (Smoking/salting/drying) food for short and long term storage and Ham radio communication skills.
Projects I am currently working on are: Building a 24 volt wind and solar electric system - Building wood gasifiers to run my generator and an old pickup truck.
I am fairly confident that I can do these things on my own but I am always willing to hear other people's ideas and would love to let others work with me so they could learn and then we could could one for them next.
It would also be great to develop a communications network so that in SHTF situations, we can respond to and help those in the greatest need.

See all- Plant Identification walk series120 S Milford Rd, Milford, MI
Please join our friends at Great Lakes Self Reliance for this event.
Herbology is using plants for medicinal purposes, or for supplementing a diet. Plants have been the basis for medical treatments throughout human history, and such traditional medicine is still widely practiced today. Many modern medicines began from herbs.
Plant Identification means learning what plants look like in all seasons, flowering or not. IF you can identify plants in the wild and learn their names, then the next step is looking them up in a book to find out what they're used for. Wild plants are either: edible, medicinal, or both. A third category is toxic, to stay away from. Not much is totally useless.
Learning what plants can be used for is wonderfully EMPOWERING, knowing that you may never have to starve, or that you can heal/recover from injuries/ailments on your own. That is true self-reliance... not giving up your power to someone else to heal you.
IF you truly want to learn Plant ID, then bring pen & paper to take a few notes, plus your cell phone camera. Ideally, seek opportunities to go on Plant Walks as much as possible in a short time in order to really learn/remember their names best. Bring your Petersen Flowers Guide book to look up plants if you have one.
This FREE class/walk will take place OUTSIDE, so dress for it, and you may desire bug spray. IF the weather is bad, then the event may be cancelled, so contact Chriss to verify if need be.
Plan to carpool, and attend with friends for twice the fun.
The posted address is for McDonalds. We will meet in the carpool parking lot across from McDonalds to begin walking Milford Trail up from the south. Look for my green Jeep Wrangler.
