Thought Sessions | Bring an Idea to Discuss
Details
Where are all the intellectuals these days?
Thought Sessions is a curated space for the deepest conversations. The constructs we live inside, the realities we take as given, and whether any of it holds up when someone reasons carefully against it.
No panel, no audience, no small talk. Two people, an hour, and a position worth putting under pressure.
It's genuinely enjoyable, in the way that thinking hard about something with someone sharp always is. And occasionally you walk out feeling like a new person.
How it works
You pair up with one other person. One of you opens with something you hold to be true, or something you can't yet resolve. The other parries objections, alternative framings, where the reasoning bends. Then you swap.
Before anything else, whoever's going first states their position in a sentence, and the other repeats it back. It sounds like a formality. It rarely is.
That's where the hour gets interesting.
If you're new, you go first. If you're both new, flip a coin.
What you can bring
Anything that isn't personal. Logic, philosophy, politics, religion, society, economics, the humanities. Something half-formed is fine. Something you've circled for years and never settled is better. The only thing off the table is your own life.
The rules are short
- Phones away, the whole time
- Two people per conversation
- Come to reason, not to win
Who this isn't for
This isn't therapy, and it isn't a space to work through what's going on in your life. There are better places for that, run by people qualified to help.
It isn't a debate club either. Nobody scores, nobody wins, and if you arrive certain, you'll have a frustrating hour.
And it isn't networking. No pitches.
If you want to be right, this isn't it. If you want to find out whether you are, it might be.
We look forward to meeting you!
You'll leave holding your position more firmly, or you'll leave having developed a new position. Both are worth the hour.
