Linux / FOSS Meetup Linz #4 | Jan 22nd | JKU

Our next meetup will take place on the 22nd of January 2026 @ JKU.

We'll have two interesting talks, food, an awesome location and plenty of like-minded people to talk with.

: Gerhard Sulzberger - Linux Mint @ School - unattended installs :
This Talk is about the challenges of Open Source Software in context of a small school in the middle of nowhere.

We set up and support Linux Mint as OS of our workstations for teachers and students.
Workstations are Joined with Univention Corporate Server, collaboration is driven by Nextcloud and Collabora.
To make setups of Client PC's easier, a Linux Mint unattended installer was set up to standardize client installations.
There are a technological and organizational learnings around these topics which will be part of the talk.
Nothing fancy, no Linux Stack deep dive but experiences from real live with real people outside our bubble.

: Werner Fischer - Linux Storage Stack Explained :
Thanks to our second talk presented by Werner Fischer, we will finally get to understand how storage actually works under Linux.
As an additional bonus, we will receive an introduction to the LPI - the Linux Professional Institute - as well!
