Could not see the screen and had trouble hearing. Asked a reasonable question and was completely blown off. Where are the modules? how are they installed if not in core? Turn them on or off? okay where? How and where does one place the rewrite rules?

I agree that the screen was a little difficult to see. I remember your question but I don't remember it being blown off. To answer it: most modules, even inactive ones, are installed with Apache. Others are installed via separate packages. Installing and activating are both a bit platform-dependent. Bob's asked me to do a session on administering various Linux flavors, and I'll be sure to cover some Apache administration.

A spreadsheet that tries to identify the differences in apache config locations between linux distributions: http://bit.ly/1awunov - Any help filling out is welcome!

Bah! Have other duties to attend. Very sorry to miss out on any interesting insights to mod_rewrite...

I am not super well versed in Linux but have played with it for short stints over the last several years. I have been trying to migrate to it as my dominant platform. I look forward to meeting everyone!
