19:40 An introduction to userland rootkits. How they work and what we can learn from them, by Brett Mack of OpenCredo.
Abstract:
"I find there is so much that can be learned from the InfoSec community, seeing how a system or service can be broken is a great way to learn how it works. This talk aims to provide an introduction to userland rootkits, specifically those that leverage the LD_PRELOAD technique. During the talk I will take you through creating a very basic rootkit, and show how they work with a little help from C, the GNU linker, and a tiny bit of assembly (I know neither of these languages well so it will be kept basic)."
20:10 Q&A
20:15 Community slot
20:20 Free raffles and prize draw.
20:25 Retire to Skills Matter's bar.
The final details are being confirmed, but our free raffle should contain at least one Raspberry Pi, thanks to OpenCredo! (https://opencredo.com/)
Also, there should be lovely Pizzas courtesy of OpenCredo, (https://opencredo.com/) many thanks.
