Want to understand Linux? Want to master the operating system that powers the Internet? Worried about installing it?
Don’t want to re-partition your hard drive? Running a Mac? Windows 7 or later?
This special free workshop is just for you!
This event is open to everyone, including those from non-technical background, who’d like to know more about Linux.
This short class will teach you how to install Linux under Oracle’s VirtualBox (Windows 7 will be used as the example but it applies to VirtualBox on Linux or Mac OS.)
After that we will do a Linux 103 class - post installation tasks, the Command Line Interface (CLI) and proper package management under Linux (i.e. how to correctly install software under Linux).
These are completely free classes, but you MUST do the prerequisites before attending (they are simple and detailed below).
We are very friendly and positively encourage people to work in pairs or teams.
Numbers are strictly limited on this workshop by virtue of the seating arrangements.
Prerequisites (things that should be done before the workshop):
• Have a fully charged working laptop (Windows 7 or later, Mac, or Linux, 4 Gb RAM or better)
• 8+ Gb free space on your hard drive
