Title: Simpler Java Build Tools with Object Oriented Programming
Speaker: Haoyi Li

Java is known for its performance and great developer experience, but its build tools often fall short. In this talk, Haoyi Li will explore the challenges of build tooling and how object-oriented programming concepts can simplify the experience. He’ll introduce Mill , an experimental Java build tool that demonstrates how builds can be faster, safer, and easier.
Bio:
Haoyi Li is an MIT graduate who has built infrastructure for companies like Dropbox and Databricks. He’s a prolific open-source contributor with projects exceeding 10,000 stars on GitHub. His expertise spans cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, programming languages, and high-performance web applications.

Nuno Boavida is a Lead Software Engineer at Mastercard with over two decades of experience. He has led technical teams and projects at companies like Zetes, Vision-Box, and Siemens, focusing on identity solutions and secure systems. His expertise includes Java, microservices, embedded systems, and leadership in hybrid and international environments.
